My opinion of Pro. Hofstede’s characteristics of my country’s culture

In my country, I love to interact with all the people, as I feel like they are just like family, coming from the same place. I couldn’t agree more with Professor’s Hofstede’s charactersitics analysis of my country’s culture. Lebanese people like to live each day by day. They live by the moto ” YOLO” , which means you only live once. The Lebanese are one of a kind and are very different and extraordinary comparing to other Arabs. They work extremely hard in order to live the life they want- luxurious life. They love to have fun along to working hard. Lebanese people have :

  • A very high Power distance percentage as there is huge difference between the rich and poor in their society and culture. The rich society in Lebanon gets access to any luxurious place, but the poor ones are judged and permitted from entering due to external looks mostly.
  • Regarding Individualism, Lebanese work mostly in business owned by themselves , but like to work with each other in some projects, so they are partially individualized .
  • Regarding man and woman, and who plays the greater role. I believe nowadays it has developed and people have been educated and are no more discrimnating women and men. Lots of women hold huge businesses in Lebanon, and so do men. So, I believe it’s equal over there
  • Lebanese culture is very different and unique according to the West’s
  • Regarding Uncertainity avoidance, Lebanese live an unstable life because of their political and ethnic problems. There are lots of sudden chaos in the country, which is very unpredictable making Lebanon and the lebanese in very unstable positions. That is why they live their lives day by day and spend when they earn.

Our culture’s represent us strongly, as they are what we belief and what traditions we concur. Pro Hofstede opinion about my culture is very similar to the actual culture. Is it close to your country’s reality? If you feel like I am mistaken in my opinion, please join me in this and discuss the differences with me.
